Experience
Mr. Iwano joined MR&D in November 2003. Since joining MR&D, Mr. Iwano has used finite element methods to analyze various engineering projects. Such analyses include, but are not limited to, structural and thermal stress analyses, steady-state and transient heat transfer analyses, as well as random vibration analyses. He also has experience with using micromechanics codes to develop thermo-elastic properties of composites.
Previous work includes a complete 3-dimensional analysis of C/SiC hot structure control surfaces for next generation reusable launch vehicles. Such analyses include examining the structure under re-entry acoustic environments, as well as peak thermal and mechanical loadings. Related responsibilities include reviewing engineering drawings, making pre-test predictions, witnessing tests and correlating results with numerical predictions. More recent work includes complete thermal and mechanical analyses of various Space Shuttle Orbiter repair techniques, including finite element model generation, design optimization, pre-test predictions and data correlation.
Mr. Iwano is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University.
